MyOwnPurse

Terms

The short version: it’s free, it does the sums, and the decisions are yours.

Who we are

MyOwnPurse is a Robin of Loxley app. Robin of Loxley is a trading name of Faresay Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17302034. “We” means Faresay Ltd. “You” means the person using MyOwnPurse.

What MyOwnPurse is, and isn’t

MyOwnPurse is a calculator and general guidance. It works out a payoff plan, a bills calendar, a tax set-aside and savings steps from the numbers you give it, and explains what they mean.

It isn’t financial advice. We aren’t authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to give advice and we don’t. MyOwnPurse never tells you which product to take out or which debt solution to choose (an IVA, a debt management plan or bankruptcy, for example). If you want advice about your situation, the services on our help page give it free.

The figures are estimates

Every figure comes from what you enter and the rules we use, which are set out where the figures appear: interest worked out monthly, minimum payments first, and so on. Your lenders may work things out differently, with daily interest, fees or a change of rate, so their numbers will drift from ours. Check anything important with them.

The tax set-aside is a percentage of the payments you record, put beside your own estimate of the bill. It never calculates the tax you owe. For that, use HMRC’s tools or an accountant.

What it costs

Nothing. There are no ads, no credit offers, no affiliate links and no referral fees, and we never sell you credit. If we ever wanted to charge for MyOwnPurse, we’d tell you well before, and you could download your data and leave first.

Your account

You need to be 16 or over. Keep your sign-in to yourself: anything done from your account is treated as done by you. If you think someone else has got in, change your password and tell us.

If you open MyOwnPurse from MyOwnSession, MyOwnEdu or MyOwnArc, you arrive signed in on the same email, but your MyOwnPurse account is its own. Leaving that app doesn’t close it; you keep your money data until you delete it. Payments brought in from MyOwnSession or MyOwnEdu can be turned off in Settings.

Your data

What you put in is yours. We use it to do the sums for you and nothing else. You can download all of it, or delete all of it straight away, from Settings. Your data has the detail.

Using it fairly

Use MyOwnPurse for your own money. Don’t try to get into anyone else’s account, overload it, copy it wholesale or get round the way it’s protected.

Keeping it running

We work to keep MyOwnPurse available and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will never be down or never get anything wrong. Keep your own records of anything you rely on, such as what you’ve put aside for tax. We may change, add or take away features; if we take away something you use, we’ll say so first.

If something goes wrong

MyOwnPurse is free general guidance, and you decide what to do with your money. So we aren’t responsible for losses that come from decisions you make using its figures, or from figures that were wrong because what was entered was wrong.

Nothing here limits our responsibility for death or injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit. Your legal rights as a consumer aren’t affected.

Ending

You can stop whenever you like: delete your money data in Settings, or delete your account. We can close an account that breaks these terms. Unless it’s urgent, we’ll tell you first and give you time to download your data.

Changes to these terms

We’ll put any change on this page with a new date. If it’s a change that matters to you, we’ll tell you before it applies.

The law

These terms are under the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
